Meet Casey Near

Casey grew up in the Bay Area, California in a household of educators. As an undergraduate student at a woman's college, she found her professional home in the world of higher education. She started as one of those classic walking-backwards tour guides, eventually working as an admissions counselor, then serving as the Executive Director of a national education and college counseling organization for nearly 10 years. Through it all, her focus has been on making the path to college filled with more clarity, equity, and joy.

Now, she works as the Scholarship Director at the Mitchell Institute and has called Maine home for many years. When she's not working with students and making good trouble, she's usually in search of a cappuccino, a soft pretzel, a good book, or her next travel destination. She lives with a pup, a partner, and a particularly spunky toddler.
